LAKE BROADWATER RECREATION RESERVE

Public BBQ

Lake Broadwater Recreation Reserve spreads along the waterfront with sweeping views that justify the journey from Dalby. The camp kitchen stands out as a recent addition, featuring dual electric barbecues and covered picnic tables alongside a functional sink. Amenities earn consistent praise for their cleanliness, particularly the hot showers that seem to exceed expectations for a regional camping area. The layout proves thoughtful: drive-through powered sites each come with dedicated fire pits, while the toilet blocks occupy a sensible position near the main entrance. The lake's edge offers a flat 5-kilometre walking circuit, though water levels fluctuate seasonally. Families benefit from the children's play area and boat ramp access with proper permits. The reserve caters equally to day visitors seeking a lakeside lunch spot and overnight campers, with ample space for both caravans and tents. One trade-off: sites backing onto the road cop some traffic noise from passing trucks. Still, the wildlife, birdlife, and that cooling breeze off the water create a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere for a roadside stop.
